Human Rights Day

  • Sorenson Unity Center

Donate a winter clothing item for a refugee who is in Utah for the first time. As well, on December 1-31, 2011, you’re welcome to view the exhibit “DREAMers: Living in the Shadow of Hope, Portraits of Undocumented Youth.” Photographs are by Lynn Hoffman-Brouse and interviews are by Annie Brewer. Thousands of undocumented children have come to the U.S. through no choice of their own, learned English, attended public schools, and become part of the American culture.  They dream of going to college and starting careers.  However, once they turn 18, they are not allowed to work, to vote, or to apply for student aid.  They live with the constant threat of deportation, often to countries they barely know. The public is welcome to view this beautiful exhibit at City Hall, 451 South State, 1st floor during regular business hours
